Delara Derakhshani

Delara Derakhshani is Director of Policy for the Data Transfer Initiative (DTI), a non-profit with the mission to empower individuals by enabling effective data transfers. Prior to DTI, she was Policy Manager at Meta’s Reality Labs, focusing on privacy issues related to wearables, facial recognition, and augmented reality. Before Meta, Delara was Senior Counsel, Tech Policy at the Entertainment Software Association, where she advised video game publishers and console manufacturers on technology law and policy, led strategic initiatives, and advocated on behalf of the industry around the globe. Prior to ESA, she served as Policy Counsel at Consumer Reports. Delara has testified before Congress on privacy and technology and has appeared on several national media outlets—including NBC Nightly News, NPR, Fox Business, and HuffPost Live. She received her JD from the Catholic University of America’s Columbus School of Law and her BA in Cognitive Science from the University of Virginia.
