Evie Breese

Evie Breese is a freelance journalist based in London, undertaking the Tech Policy Press fellowship in collaboration with openDemocracy. Her reporting seeks to hold governments and corporations accountable by exposing exploitation of workers and resources. In her spare time, Evie produces a substack newsletter: Not a Bot, profiling people whose working lives have been reshaped by AI. She was previously The Big Issue's employment reporter, covering the future of work, the gig economy, and 2022's "hot strike summer," following reporting for The Independent, and for the Southeast Asia Globe while based in Phnom Penh. An anthropologist by training, she began her career as a qualitative researcher at the Institute for Employment Studies.
