Fabiola Uwera

Fabiola Uwera is an attorney, with more than five years of experience in investigative research, strategic litigation, child rights protection, policy and advocacy work for women’s human rights and creative writing. Fabiola is a fellow in the esteemed Leadership and Advocacy for Women in Africa Program and an LL.M. candidate in Technology Law and Policy at Georgetown University Law Center. Fabiola has a keen interest in the intersection of technology and human rights. Areas of interest include AI governance, tech accountability, intellectual property, digital health, data privacy, and security. Her practical experience spans roles at the National Commission for Human Rights in Rwanda, Levy Firestone Muse LLP, and Certa Foundation, and currently an extern at the Tech Justice Law Project. Fabiola obtained her LL.B. from the University of Dar-es-Salaam and holds a diploma in Legal Practice from the Institute of Legal Practice and Development in Rwanda. She is an active member of the Rwanda Bar Association and serves as the Vice-Chairperson of the Research and Publications Committee within the East Africa Law Society. Proficient in Kinyarwanda, Kiswahili, English, and French, she brings a multilingual and multicultural perspective to her work and pursuits.
