George Pearson

George Pearson is a Senior Research Manager at the Schroeder Institute, the research wing of the Truth Initiative, a public health non-profit based in Washington DC focused on preventing nicotine addiction. His research focusses on the role of big tech and digital platforms in the marketing and sales of tobacco. His work has been covered by the popular press - including Forbes, Yahoo News, Curiosity Daily (a podcast by the Discovery Channel), and local TV news - as well as being utilized in congressional research reports and state lawsuits against the tobacco industry. He received a doctorate from the School of Communication at The Ohio State University in 2019 and was previously a postdoctoral fellow at the Tobacco Center of Regulatory Science at the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to his research career he worked as a public sector communications officer in the United Kingdom. Opinions expressed here are his own.
