Nathan-Ross Adams

Nathan-Ross Adams is a South African AI law researcher, policy practitioner, and founder of ITLawCo and the South African Technology and Economic Competitiveness Initiative (SATECI). His work sits at the intersection of law, technology, and governance, advising founders, executives, and product teams on AI compliance and accountability, while producing independent grand strategy on Africa's positioning in the global AI economy. A doctoral researcher in AI law at the University of Johannesburg, he lectures across both the Law and Computer Science faculties and has engaged at ministerial level as a delegate to the BRICS Ministers of Communications Meeting. He is a Schmidt Futures International Strategy Forum Fellow and Equiano Institute Fellow, and has published on AI governance, inclusive AI development, and the legal reform implications of the fourth industrial revolution. He is currently leading SATECI's civil society engagement with South Africa's Draft National AI Policy, which entered its 60-day public comment period in April 2026.
